How a Pink House in Halifax Made Faux Stone Look Chic— And Got The Wall Street Journal’s Recognition!

When strong design, bold color, and a fearless sense of style come together, great things happen—like getting featured by none other than The Wall Street Journal! Modern House Numbers is thrilled to celebrate our recent guest contributor, Rebekah Higgs, whose unique pink house in Halifax, Nova Scotia was recently highlighted by one of the most prestigious names in media.

A Historic Home with a Bold New Look

Rebekah’s renovation is nothing short of inspiring. Her historic Halifax home had great bones and beautiful character—but Rebekah had a vision that pushed the envelope in the best way. She gave the exterior a bold and joyful update with a lively shade of pink that immediately turned heads. But here’s the twist: instead of stopping there, she grounded the entire look with faux stone—a surprising design choice that brought a sense of permanence and balance to the home and helped it fit into the historic neighborhood. This brilliant use of texture and contrast elevated the home’s presence, giving it both personality and polish.

Modern House Numbers: The Chic Finishing Touch

No modern makeover is complete without thoughtful details, and Rebekah didn’t overlook a thing. She turned back to Modern House Numbers to complete her home’s curb appeal and chose the Backbay font in Matte Brass—a warm, timeless finish that perfectly complements the Craftsman-style architecture and that fabulous new pink exterior.

Why Backbay? Because it walks the line beautifully: modern, but not too trendy. And Rebekah nailed the scale too—opting for larger numbers that make a bold statement and help guests (and fans) spot the house from down the block.

Why This Moment Matters

Let’s take a second to acknowledge what a big deal this is. The Wall Street Journal has a massive readership and a sharp eye for design trends, so when they shine a spotlight on a home like Rebekah’s, it means something.

Rebekah’s bold design choices and creative vision prove that personality belongs in architecture. Congratulations, from all of us at Modern House Numbers- we’re thrilled to celebrate your incredible work!
