Why Choose a Custom Plaque?

Custom plaques offer several advantages over standard house numbers.

  • Elevates Curb Appeal: A stylish, high-end alternative to generic house numbers that enhances your home’s exterior.

  • Personalized Design: Choose fonts, sizes, finishes, and layouts to match your home’s aesthetic.

  • Premium Durability: Crafted from weather-resistant materials (brushed aluminum, matte brass, dark bronze) that last for years.

  • Improved Visibility: Bold, custom-sized numbers make your address easier to read from the street.

  • Unique Statement: Stand out from neighbors with a one-of-a-kind plaque tailored to your style.

  • Easy Installation: Includes pre-drilled holes and clear instructions for hassle-free mounting.

  • Versatile Options: Horizontal/vertical layouts, contrast plates, and alignment choices for full customization.

  • Complements Architecture: Match modern, traditional, or rustic homes with curated fonts and finishes.

  • Adds Value: A polished, cohesive look can boost your home’s perceived value.

  • Quick Process: Order online with fast shipping for a seamless upgrade.

Font

The font you choose sets the tone for your plaque. Modern House Numbers offers three stylish options:

  • Palm Springs: A sleek, mid-century modern font with clean lines and geometric precision that creates a retro-futuristic vibe, perfect for contemporary homes with minimalist architecture or desert-inspired designs.

  • SoCal: A bold, rounded typeface with friendly curves that feels warm and inviting, featuring slightly extended characters for excellent readability, ideal for casual beach cottages or laid-back suburban homes with coastal influences.

  • Austin: A refined, slightly serifed font with subtle decorative flourishes that adds understated elegance through its balanced proportions, great for traditional farmhouses, rustic cabins, or heritage-style homes seeking timeless sophistication.

Each font has distinct characteristics, so select one that complements your home’s architecture. For a cohesive look, consider matching the plaque’s font to other exterior elements, like your mailbox or porch decor.

Sizes & Shapes

Plaques come in multiple sizes and shapes to fit different spaces:

  • Circle: Available in 5", 7", and 10" diameters for a classic, balanced appearance that works well beside entryways or as a focal point on garage walls, offering timeless curb appeal.

  • Rectangle: Choose from 3"x8", 4"x11", or 5"x16" for a sleek, elongated look that fits perfectly above garages or along fence posts while maximizing number visibility from the street

  • Square: An 8"x8" option for a modern, symmetrical design that creates bold geometric contrast on both traditional and contemporary home exteriors with clean, proportional lines.

Consider the installation area when selecting a size. A larger plaque works well on a spacious wall, while a smaller one suits narrow entryways. The shape also affects visibility—horizontal rectangles are great for garages, while circles make a striking statement beside a door.

Orientation

Your plaque’s orientation affects how it’s displayed:

  • Horizontal: Best for wide spaces, such as above a garage or along a fence.

  • Vertical: Ideal for narrow areas, like beside a front door or on a porch column.

Choose based on where you plan to install the plaque. A horizontal layout provides a traditional look, while a vertical orientation adds a modern touch. Ensure the numbers are easily readable from the street, regardless of orientation.

Finish

The finish determines the plaque’s appearance and durability. Options include:

  • Brushed Aluminum: A sleek, metallic look with a subtle textured finish that resists corrosion and fingerprints for easy maintenance. Pairs perfectly with modern and industrial-style homes.

  • Matte Black: A bold, contemporary choice that stands out with excellent contrast against light-colored exteriors, creating a striking, high-end minimalist aesthetic.

  • Matte Brass: A warm, vintage-inspired tone that develops a natural patina over time for added character, ideal for traditional, farmhouse, or craftsman-style homes.

  • Dark Bronze: A rich, classic finish for timeless elegance that offers superior durability in all weather conditions and complements brick, stone, and wood exteriors beautifully.

Select a finish that complements your home’s exterior colors. Brushed aluminum suits modern homes, while matte brass or dark bronze enhances traditional designs. Matte black works well with minimalist or industrial styles.

Alignment

You can align the numbers in two ways:

  • Center: A balanced, traditional placement.

  • Right: A modern, asymmetrical look.

Alignment affects the plaque’s visual flow. Centered numbers provide a classic aesthetic, while right-aligned text creates a contemporary feel. Choose based on your home’s overall style and the plaque’s shape.

Contrast Plate

A contrast plate adds depth and improves readability. Options include:

  • Black or White: Creates a striking backdrop for the numbers.

  • None: Keep the design clean and minimal.

This optional add-on enhances visibility, especially if your plaque’s finish blends with your home’s exterior. A white plate works well on dark walls, while a black plate pops on light surfaces.

Installing Instructions

  • Step 1: Gather all necessary supplies, including the plaque, installation template, studs and spacers (included), plus additional tools you'll need: tape, epoxy, rubber mallet, drill, and level - for masonry or stone surfaces, prepare a hammer drill and appropriate masonry bits for optimal results.

  • Step 2: Secure the paper template to your desired mounting location using painter's tape, double-checking perfect alignment with your level before drilling clean holes using an 11/64" drill bit (upgrade to 3/16" masonry bit for stone/brick) and carefully peel away the template without tearing.

  • Step 3: Prepare the plaque by applying a thin, even layer of weatherproof epoxy to one end of each metal stud, then firmly press them into the pre-drilled holes on the plaque's reverse side until fully seated.

  • Step 4: Protect your plaque's finish by placing it face-down on a soft towel or foam pad while gently tapping any protruding studs with a rubber mallet to ensure they're perfectly perpendicular to the plaque's surface.

  • Step 5: Slide the included aluminum spacers onto each stud to create the ½” standoff distance from your wall, then apply another small epoxy bead to the stud that will anchor into your wall for maximum holding power.

  • Step 6: Carefully align the plaque's studs with your pre-drilled wall holes, applying even pressure while using light mallet taps if needed for final seating - critically inspect that all steel components remain completely encapsulated to prevent future corrosion.
