Fresh from The Ivy

We had the pleasure of speaking with Brandon Matheson, the owner of The IVY Luxury Apartments, nestled in the heart of Tucson, Arizona. He shared tips and strategies he used to dramatically makeover the 70-year-old, 37-unit apartment complex.

What tips do you have for adding modern curb appeal to an older or historic property?

"My top tip is to use fresh paint, contemporary hardware, and thoughtful landscaping.  Using these finishing touches at The IVY helped to blend the new with the old. We're really pleased with the outcome."

Update Monument Signs.

"The updated monuments give us great visibility from the street. The 'Santa Barbara' font style was chosen as a nod to the history of the neighborhood"

15" letters, 8" and 12" numbers, 'Santa Barbara', brushed aluminum

Add custom touches.

"We worked with MHN to create custom address plaques for each unit. The vertical style and modern font provide a hint to the contemporary style of the remodeled interiors. They're really well made and memorable. One of our favorite details."

3"x10" custom plaques, 'Palm Springs', brushed aluminum finish

Don't forget color and hardware.

"At the private tenant garages, which were originally carports, we added contemporary touches including a bold color scheme, modern numbers and letters and new lighting."

6" 'Santa Barbara' letters, 4" 'Palm Springs' numbers

"Our colorful and contemporary exterior color scheme was chosen to coordinate and hint at the modern interior updates."
