Meet Brandy McLain

Learn how sewing and welding at an early age fostered a love of craft and the founding of Modern House Numbers.

Brandy, born on a ranch in Northern Arizona, learned to sew and weld at a young age. This early love for things crafted by hand grew into a love of details, and ultimately into passion for modern design. Brandy pursued a degree in Architecture and Master of Urban Planning at the University of Arizona where she met her future husband and business partner, Rick McLain.

"Regardless of my work, I've always followed my passion and harnessed my creativity. I know this enthusiasm spills over into everything we do at Modern House Numbers. " 

After college, Brandy spent several years working in Urban Planning, but starting her own business was always the dream. During the renovation of their own home in Tucson, Brandy and Rick struggled with the final detail. They wanted a set of modern numbers to finish off the exterior, but to their surprise, couldn't find anything they liked.

Ever the creative problem solvers, they decided to design and make their own. Soon, folks began knocking on their door to ask where they got their new numbers. This sparked the idea for a new business where Brandy and Rick could use their expertise in design and construction to help other people add a modern touch to their own projects. In 2008, Modern House Numbers was born.

Since it's founding, Brandy has been at the helm of the daily operations for the team at the Modern House Numbers in Tucson, Arizona. From a home-based business, to a thriving enterprise shipping modern addressing products around the globe, Brandy always holds true to her passion and uncompromising principles.

Brandy is extremely hands-on in every aspect of the Modern House Numbers process. From the careful selection of fonts and finishes, managing logistics, and replying personally to customers, she fosters a culture rooted in a love of design, details and community.
